The weekend saw the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup take place in baking hot temperatures and very firm pitch conditions under foot. This didn't stop the 208 matches taking place or rather at 1 venue, it did with the pitch deemed to be unfit for play at:
Athletic Newham v Sheppey Utd
Another fixture didn't manage to complete, with a serious injury and long delay for an ambulance leading to the match being abandoned after 55 minutes:
Shaftesbury v Camberley Town
This left 206 matches completed, time for some stats!
43 matches were drawn.
There were 22 upsets with a possible 17 more from the replays!
340 goals were scored by the home team with 317 by the away team (matches switched still treated as if original team were at home) meaning an average of 3.19 goals per game.
4 Step 6 teams out of the original 11 managed to win with another 1 managing to force a replay and now have home advantage - Andover New Street, Wincanton Town, Newport (IOW), Brixham with Radford in the replay.
There weren't many high scoring games but the most goals in a game was:
11 - Leighton Town 9-2 winners against Baldock Town
The biggest winning margin was:
8 - Saltdean 0-8 Ashford Town (Middx)
No team managed to score 7 goals, but 1 home and 3 away teams struck 6 times and 9 teams scored 5 times.

Onto League matters and Saturday saw the return of Steps 1, 2 and some of Step 3 with Step 6 seeing 132 fixtures as all of the leagues got properly underway.
Bizarrely, the 3 leagues at Step 1 and 2 all ended up with 12 matches with an average goal difference of 1.167! This compared to Step 6 which, after 248 matches has an average goal difference of 1.823 ranging from 2.625 in the Southern Combination Division 1 to a very tight Eastern Counties Division 1 North where on average only 0.857 goals separate the teams (only 7 matches though).
Only 1 team managed a 4 goal winning margin in Steps 1/2:
Leamington 4-0 Farsley Celtic
