After another bumper weekend of League and Cup action with replays and some Leagues having midweek fixtures too, the field in the race to be the last with a 100% record has diminished quite a bit.
Step 1 had already seen all teams drop points, but Step 3 now has no teams sat on a 100% record. All 6 that were still in the running before the weekend dropped some points.
Step 2 still has the 2 runners, King’s Lynn Town and Ebbsfleet United.
Step 4 lost only 1 team with 27 still yet to drop a point, mainly due to the vast majority being in cup action.
Step 5 still has 34 out of the original 318 sporting a 100% record, only 3 down on last week.
Step 6 lost quite a few teams, now only 20 left.
UNDEFEATED / WITHOUT A WIN
Only 4 sides remain undefeated at Step 1:
Barnet, Chesterfield, Notts County and Solihull Moors
4 sides also remain without a win:
Altrincham, FC Halifax Town, Gateshead and Yeovil Town
At Step 2, 8 teams are 4 unbeaten:
Alfreton Town
Banbury United
King's Lynn Town
Spennymoor Town
Chelmsford City
Ebbsfleet United
Havant & Waterlooville
Worthing
4 teams are still hunting for a 3 point return:
Boston United
Bradford (Park Avenue)
Dulwich Hamlet
Weymouth
At Step 3, ¾ of the teams have played 4 matches with 13 managing to avoid defeat so far.
The same number, are yet to taste victory.
Step 4 has only seen 2 or 3 matches played by the majority, but of the 2 teams that have had 4 outings, Yaxley are still looking to break the win duck.
Step 5 has seen more action and currently, the best unbeaten run goes to Newton Aycliffe, now 7 without losing.
At the opposite end of form, Seaham Red Star, Ashton Athletic and Keynsham Town now are winless after 6 matches.
The team that has impressed at Step 6 is Birtley Town of the Northern League Division 2, now on a run of 6 consecutive wins after starting with 2 draws which means 8 undefeated so far, 2 ahead of any other team at that level. Radstock Town though will want to change the form that has seen them notch up 8 match without a win so far!
DRAWS
Not that I have a fixation with draws, but interesting to see how many occur at each level which now reads high to low from Step 1 to 6! Here’s the % of matches ending in a draw so far.
Step 1 31.25
Step 2 29.47
Step 3 27.27
Step 4 26.44
Step 5 17.53
Step 6 15.19
The league to watch to see a winner still remains as the Spartans South Midlands Division 1 where only 7.7% of matches end without a winner. However, if you want to watch a league where any result is on the cards, try the Northern Premier League East with 41.7 % ending in a draw.
